Regina and Area Intergroup – Background
Intergroup is an A.A. service structure that involves partnerships among the Groups in the local community.
It was established to carry out certain functions common to all the Groups ‐ functions which are best handled by a centralized structure ‐ and is maintained, supervised, and supported by these Groups in their general interest.
We exist to aid the Groups in their primary purpose of carrying the message of A.A. to the alcoholic who still suffers.
Intergroup and the Central Office and General Service, Area, District Committees are complementary rather than competitive A.A. structures. Both services exist to help ensure A.A. unity and to fulfill A.A’s primary purpose of carrying the message through separate service structures.
Qualifications (for all positions)
For all positions within Intergroup, a commitment of your time and a desire to be of service, are the main qualifications.
- Committee Chairs should be people having a good level of sobriety, two years is recommended.
- Committee members should also be comfortable with their sobriety.
- Will you be able to commit a portion of your time without compromising your journey in recovery is a question you need to be able to ask and answer.
